Ajla Dizdarević – 2025 June Student Spotlight

Ajla Dizdarevic, a second-year Creative Writing MFA student, has achieved several notable accomplishments. Her full-length manuscript has been selected as a finalist for the 2025 Ohio University Press Hollis Poetry Prize. Additionally, her poem titled “Intersection of Francuska and Braće Jugovića” will be published in Southword, while another poem, “My dad tells me over breakfast how the head of his cousin split open from a bounding mine,” is set to appear in the Hopkins Review.

Ajla is also working on a translation project with the talented Serbian poet Milica Špadijer. Furthermore, she recently received an honorable mention for the 2025 National Post-Secondary Russian Essay Contest.
